Valery Piasetsky, the Principal of the Central Music School at the Moscow State Conservatory named after P. I. Tchaikovsky and the Artistic Director of the all-Russian Contest of young musicians, had a talk about the "Sozvezdie" in-live at the classical music radio station "Orpheus".
Юных художников «Сириуса» вдохновил музыкальный конкурс «Созвездие»
Who came up with the idea and how this Contest "Sozvezdie" was created? Who is in the Jury? What do musicians do in Sirius? Valery Pyasetsky gave the answers for these and other questions.

A few quotes from the programme:

"We went a little beyond the limits, considering that there was a very strong line-up of contenders especially for violin and woodwind instruments so we invited 6 violin and woodwind players and 5 pianists. Therefore we got 17 children altogether who take part in the Contest»

"The participants play two solo tours, and there is no one eliminated between the first and second live tours, thus they play their programmes for 20-30 minutes in whole as like as at the festival. At the end of these auditions, we'll choose three winners in each musical group who receive the first, second and third prize. But there is more to come. Then there will be a gala concert at the Closing Ceremony, rewarding the laureates and declaring the winners and all the prizes. They play the gala concert and after which the Grand Prix is announced, if there is any»

"In July, the 7th, the Contest starts. Given that we have three different nominations, we have decided we would not arrange any separate auditions. The pianists listened to the pianists using video files, and the same as for the woodwind and violin group players separately. So, in the Contest, when we have to choose the children, we will listen them together. The Jury is really compact, it just consists of 5 people»

"Prizes will have no monetary value. Prizes are various things aimed at the maximum development of creative abilities for musicians. The Grand Prix is the highest level instrument. And something about 500 thousand rubles for this instrument is quite good money. The awards are bow-sticks, cases, sets of canes, strings, sets of notes. There will not be a penny in cash, but the children can be paid for the trips to master classes anywhere, large competitions and for education grants.
